Top 5 Anti-Aging, Non-Invasive, Procedures of 2018….So Far :)

Each year the American Society of Plastic Surgeons post the cosmetic procedure statistics for that year.  These figures include the most popular to the least popular.  

 

Almost 1.8 million surgical cosmetic procedures and about 15.5 million minimally invasive ones were performed in the US last year, according to information from this annual survey and a national database system in which plastic surgery society members report the procedures they performed.

 

According to this extensive list and detailed report, Breast Augmentation, Liposuction, Nose Reshaping, Eyelid surgery and Facelifts topped the list of ‘invasive’ procedures.  However, their numbers were dwarfed by the number of non invasive, also known as minimally invasive procedures:

 

 

 

  1. Botox.  A drug treatment that can be injected into the upper face in an effort to smooth the appearance of facial wrinkles: 7 million procedures.

Pros.  

* Fairly instant results.  Typically, patients begin to see the results of these      injections within 2-3 weeks.   

* No healing time.  In most cases, there is no swelling or healing time required.  

 

✖︎ Cons

* Expensive.  Botox injections are temporary and require additional injections every 6 months.  Considering the cost of the average Botox treatment ($650), annual costs can exceed a thousand dollars. 

* Painful.  Depending on the area you choose to treat, Botox is given through multiple injections.  To some patients, these are injections are very difficult to tolerate. 

* Allergic reactions.  Because Botox is a drug, extracted from the Botulism virus, it is not uncommon for patients to have an allergic reaction to the drug.   

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Cosmetic Injections.  Soft tissue fillers such a as Juvederm, Restylane and Radiesse are    injected in an effort to create a smoother or fuller appearance in the face or lips: 2.6 million procedures.

 

Pros.  

* Instant results.  Typically, patients begin to see the results of these      injections before leaving the doctors office.    

* No healing time.  In most cases, there is no swelling or healing time required.  

 

✖︎ Cons

* Expensive.  Cosmetic fillers are temporary and require additional injections every 6 months to 8 months.  Considering the cost of the average treatment ($450), annual costs can exceed a thousand dollars. 

* Painful.  Depending on the area you choose to lift, fillers are given through multiple injections.  To some patients, these are injections are very difficult to tolerate. 

* Allergic reactions.  Because fillers are made up of many compounds, it is not   uncommon for patients to have an allergic reaction to the drug.   

 

 

 

 

 

3. Removable Facial Lift.  Implants or removable lifts are a new technology that only appeared three years ago and now holds the third most popular position: 2.1 million.  Angellift is the leader in this field and continues to climb on our lists.

 

Pros.  

* No doctor visit necessary

* No pain  

* No healing time.  

* Inexpensive, in relation to other procedures in this list ($70-130). 

 

✖︎ Cons

* Like Botox, removable facial lifts take a couple weeks to begin working.

* Unlike injections, lifts require daily use for up to 30 days. 

 

 

 

 

 

4. Chemical peels, in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin in an effort to smooth wrinkles and create a younger appearance: 1.36 million procedures.

 

Pros.  

* No drugs involved. 

* Low to no pain.  

* Quick healing time.  

 

✖︎ Cons

* Healing can take up to two weeks, depending on skin condition. 

* Does not remove deep aging lines. 

 

 

 

 

5. Laser hair removal, intended to remove unwanted hair from various places on the body: 1.1 million procedures.

 

✓ Pros.  

* Minimizes body hair

* Fairly quick procedure 

* No healing time required. 

 

✖︎ Cons

* Painful

* Requires continual treatments.
